Executive Summary

This paper augments the WebCGM: What is it? white paper by providing more detail on key issues surrounding WebCGM, such as hotspot authoring, link management, and web site configuration management. Of equal importance to the authoring and publishing functions involving WebCGM, is the on-going data management of the copy, graphics, metadata, link URIs (Uniform Resource Identifier), and overall configuration of the web publication.

Management of the individual data elements, together with management of the completed publication and the web authoring/publishing environment, are key production and business concerns. This applies not only to original creation, but also to effective revision and maintenance of the web publication over time.
